A great deal of interest has been raised regarding a similar creature in the northern United States. Lake Champlain has been getting it's fair share of "Creature Watchers" and researchers as well. The sightings for this creature have been fairly consistent over the last couple of centuries with more than three hundred total sightings.
   Interestingly, in some cases a sighting may have been claimed by many eye witnesses at one time, which makes the claim difficult to refute.

While Scotland's Loch Ness is nearly twice as deep in some parts, Lake Champlain is roughly 25 times as large in total area. Lake Champlain forms the border between Vermont and New York, extending southward from Canada at its northernmost point to Whitehall, New York.
