Kentucky's official state flag was adopted in 1918, redsigned in 1928 and again in 1962.

The flag has a deep blue background with part of the state seal in the center. Above the seal are the words "COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY" together encircling the seal with a pair of Goldenrods which is the state flower. The state seal consists of the words, "UNITED WE STAND" above a pioneer and statesman shaking hands. Beneath them are the words "DIVIDED WE FALL".
