Alaska State Capital: Juneau

In 1927 the Alaska Department of the American Legion sponsored a territorial contest for Alaska children in grades seven through twelve. This occurred more than 30 years before Alaska was to enter statehood. The winner was a seventh grade Aleut student living in an orphanage in Seward by the name of John (Benny) Benson.
